Recently I responded to a thread on Dynamics GP Community forum pertaining to the subject in the title of this post. I thought I place the Q&A in this post since it might be helpful for others when they come across the same questions.
Q. Do we need to have Business Portal installed to integrate Requisition Management with MOSS 2007?
A. Requisition Management is part of Business Portal and not exactly part of MOSS 2007 or no integration for that matter. Business Portal itself…
This is the most common question I get to hear from many customers as well as various forums discussing on Dynamics GP. I thought I’d put some information here for those who are uncertain about which way they should go, whether WSS or MOSS 2007.
1. If you want to install Business Portal, You can choose either Windows SharePoint services (WSS) or Microsoft Office SharePoint (MOSS) 2007. It works with both these services. However, It depends on other factors also as given in below lines.
2. Within Business Portal, If you are looking to have the…
I was actually looking for a solution on this and I’m glad that Allan Cahill from Dynamics GP technical support has provided a great solution recently in response to a question raised by another fellow member on Dynamics GP Forums. You can find the link to this thread by clicking here.

Requisition Management is an easy to deploy and easy to use system that allows you to automate parts of your purchase requisition process, and integrates directly to GP. Requisition Management is included in the Advanced Management version of GP. It does require the deployment of Business Portal.
The set up is fairly straight forward, requiring the following configurations:
I created a short video to walk through part of this process.

Our challenge to you is…how much do you really know about Dynamics GP?

A couple of people have posted in the newsgroups about installation problems with Business Portal when their server was named “BP”
I was thinking of much apt title for this post, I couldn’t get one. This post is about some of the pain areas in Requisition Management module for Dynamics GP (BP 3.0 or 4.0 or 5.0 whatever version we are). Because I feel we continue to see the same functionality since the old Business Portal 3.0 for Dynamics GP 9.0, Business Portal 4.0 for Dynamics GP 10.0 or Business Portal 5.0 for Dynamics GP 2010 with few exceptions. Having said that, We also understand there’s a lot of feature enhancements for BP as a whole, Workflows, Web services and Dynamics GP itself that is helping Dynamics GP to withstand as a favorite product to many in terms of choice.
I have implemented Requisition Management module in several places and I must say the product is flexible to implement and a robust functionality than what we could expect from. Yet, I opine that It has certain limitations which has to be addressed at least in the…
When the user launched the Business Portal website, and navigated to enter a purchase requisition for this new company, they could create the requisition header just fine. They clicked on the Add Item field to open the item selection window. Did a look up on the item numbr field, to display a list of the available items in GP…all fine so far. However, once they selected an item and clicked Select, they got the following message:
The multi-part identifier “T2.Null.[CMPTITNM]6″ could no be bound. ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if the statement contains a UNION, INTERSECT or EXCEPT operator. The multi-part identifier “T2.Null.[CMPITUOM]7″ could no be bound. ORDER BY items must appear in the select list if…
